Hiking On Krk

The island of Krk not only offers beautiful beaches for swimming, but also a large network of developed hiking trails, which is currently around 400 km long. So if you want to explore the island on foot, there are countless possibilities. Many a strenuous climb is rewarded by the incomparable view of the Kvarner Bay from the summit.

The best time for extensive hikes is of course spring or fall. This is the best time to experience the incredible diversity and natural beauty of the island. The highest peaks on the island of Krk are Obzova (568 m) and Veli vrh (541 m). There are hiking trails along the coast and in the interior of the island, easy hiking trails and also more challenging hiking trails for experienced hikers and mountaineers. Circular hiking trails, such as the Vrbnik Panorama Trail or the Love Trail, are easy hikes with unforgettable views. The hike from Baska over the hill to Prijevoj Treskavac requires more stamina.

For several years now, the old pilgrimage routes on Krk have also been marked and united into the circular Camino Krk, which is part of the European network of pilgrimage routes of St. James. Camino Krk is a circular hiking trail that leads through Krk, Brzac, Porat, Malinska, Omišalj, Čižići, Dobrinj, Vrbnik and Baška and ends in Kornić in the church of St. Jacob. The length of the entire Camino Krk circular route is approx. 150 km. The idea is to hike this circular route in 7 days, with an average walking distance of approx. 20 km per day.
